Newton Jazz Jam has found a new home at Tango Mango (34 Langley Rd, Newton Centre, MA 02459). We’ll perform every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 7 to 10 PM, and we can’t wait to welcome you.
This exciting jam session features Chris Pitts on saxophone, the brilliant Alexei Tsiganov on piano, the rock-steady Richard Shaw on bass, and the dynamic Gillian Delear on drums. It’s a place where seasoned musicians and rising talents come together, creating a unique, spontaneous, and always surprising musical experience.
NOTE TO MUSICIANS: If you plan on sitting in, you should know tunes from the jazz standards repertoire including Blues heads and rhythm changes by heart. Reading charts is discouraged. We love Wayne Shorter tunes so it’s good to know some of those. Here is a partial list of tunes we play:
